My name is Gabe Barwick, I am 14 years old and I play for Byron Bay Beez and the Palm Beach Currumbin Reds and Magpies in my chosen sport of basketball.

I have recently trialled, been selected, and now have the opportunity of a lifetime to play AAU basketball in the United States as part of a touring AUSA Hoops squad on the Puma NXT Pro circuit.

Going to America to train and play will not only expose me to a whole new world of basketball, and while college remains a few years off, it will also allow me to perform and be noticed in front of 150+ of the right high-level scouts and coaches so I can continue to pursue my career in this sport.

I am self motivated and work relentlessly at developing my skillset.

I love everything about the game, from developing and gaining skills, to strength and conditioning sessions, mindset philosophy and more.

My absolute favourite part though…is competing. There’s nothing like the feeling of pushing myself against competition that is doing the same.

I am so excited to have all the hard work I’ve been putting in pay off.

This three week trip is completely self funded by my family, and is quite a large undertaking.
