BRUCE CUP 2024 Australia School Sports Nationals in Tennis

Hi Everyone,

My name is Gavy Dhindsa, and I am a 10-year-old Grade 5 student at Hume Grammar Donnybrook. I am excited to share that I have been selected to represent the Victoria team at the Australian School Sports National Tennis Championship, known as the Bruce Cup. This prestigious event will be held in Darwin from August 17 to August 24, 2024.

The Bruce Cup is a national school tennis championship for boys and girls aged 12 and under, and it has a rich history dating back to 1938. Many Australian tennis legends, including Rod Laver, Lew Hoad, and current stars like Ash Barty and Nick Kyrgios, began their representative careers in this tournament. This year, I am honored to have the opportunity to compete and represent Victoria with my team.

My journey in tennis began when I was five years old, thanks to my dad's introduction to the sport. Since then, I have been passionate about tennis and have dreamed of becoming a professional player. I also enjoy participating in other sports and had the chance to compete in cross country running for my school. When I was seven, I did the coin toss at Rod Laver Arena and shared my dream of playing on the center court one day and representing my country.

Over the past five years, I have worked hard every day to achieve my goals. I have been fortunate to receive numerous opportunities, such as being part of the Super 10 since I was seven and continuing with the program. I am also part of the Tennis Australia Under 11 North Metro Zone squad and have represented Victoria in the State of Origin.

According to Tennis Australia, I am among the top 10 UTR players globally born in 2014. I am dedicated to working hard every day and pursuing my dreams with the support of my community and well-wishers.

I am reaching out to raise funds to cover my expenses for this incredible opportunity. Your donations will help cover travel, accommodation, and event fees for my trip to Darwin. I understand that times are tough financially for many, and any help would be greatly appreciated. All donations are tax-deductible.

Thank you so much to everyone at my school and the broader Victoria community for your support. Your contributions will be greatly appreciated and will help me continue my journey in tennis.

Sincerely,

Gavy Dhindsa
