For the 165 years of the Geelong Football Club, women and girls have been integral members of our team of all. However, it was not until their admission onto our playing field, when they wore the Hoops and entered the arena, that our Club became truly whole.

As a Club, we are committed to developing our women's football programs, through creating strong pathways and true equity on and off the field to support genuine inclusion and equality through facilities.

We will support the development of strong pathways to increase participation within the region. We will support our Club’s aspiration to provide equal opportunity and facilities with the development of a purpose built AFLW locker room facility to cater for female athletes and their families. We aim to create programs and development opportunities for both our athletes and staff to excel on and off the field and encourage women to take on leading roles within the sporting industry.

Since the entrance of the Geelong Football Club into the AFLW in 2019, female participation in Australian rules football in our region has increased by 44% year-on-year. The undeniable impact of women competing on the very same stage, in the very same Hoops, in the very same code beloved by all. Participation in a sport and in a space that is so core to our collective identity deeply validates and empowers women and girls to fully engage in our game at every level, but also, in every aspect of our society. For sport, particularly our own, is a fundamental driver of social change.

A visible, tangible outcome at the elite level unlocks the opportunity for every girl in our region to dream of excellence, to expand their ambitions, and to progress along new pathways without fear of forfeit.

Now, the time has come to move beyond participation and towards greatness.
