About

Sailing commenced at GRSC in 1926 with the club growing substantially in the ensuing years. Over the years numerous classes of boats have been sailed at the club, and currently we have active class sailing for Lasers, Tasar's and Optimist Dinghy's. Our club also hosts a growing learn to sail program which caters for both juniors and adults, enabling participation, no matter what the age group. Our club is also the base for the “Tackers” sailing program which provides the ideal pathway to introduce youth sailing to both individuals and school groups. The Club has well developed sailing and support facilities including a large under cover boat storage shed co-located with its registered club on the lower Georges River at Sandringham a short distance from the superb open sailing waters of Botany Bay. Our facilities have enabled GRSC to successfully manage a range of regattas of considerable size and complexity with excellent feedback for both on and off water management. Some recent examples include: • The NSW Youth Championships 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 • The Australian & Oceanic Formula Windsurfing Championship 2014 • The NSW Optimist Championship 2014 • The NSW Tasar Championships 2014 • The NSW Laser Championship 2014 • The Australian Optimist Championship 2016 • The NSW NS14 State Championship 2016 • The NSW Laser State Championships 2016
