I am a Brisbane and Sunshine Coast based beach volleyball player, representing Australia on the World Beach Pro Tour as a member of the Australian Beach Volleyroos. I am 2023 Australian Champion and 5-time medallist on the World Beach Pro Tour.

I have wrapped up the domestic and Asian component of our 2024 season with partner, Jasmine Fleming, where we won 3 national medals and 3 international medals; most recently a Gold Medal at the second leg of the Asian Beach Volleyball Tour in Samila, Thailand. I will continue my campaign in Europe over the next 2 months, competing in six World Beach Pro Tour events with partner, Stefie Fejes. The second half of the year will see further domestic events, including the Asian Championships & a World Beach Pro Tour Futures held in Adelaide.

I am currently in my final year of a Bachelor of Chemical & Environmental Engineering at the University of Queensland following 4 years as a Student Athlete at Georgia State University in Atlanta USA. This competition load requires a full-time training program based in Brisbane, which I combine with my tertiary study.

Whilst we are appreciative of funding support we receive from Volleyball Australia, the Australian Institute of Sport and the Federation of International Volleyball, the financial demands of being a full-time high performance athlete in the current economic climate, as well as being a full-time student, are extremely high. The time spent overseas competing also limits our capacity to earn an income away from the sport. The sport of beach volleyball is growing in Australia, attracting more attention and support from the grassroots level upwards. It is a particularly exciting time for our sport, as we won the bid to host both the 2024 Asian Championships and the 2025 World Championships. To allow us to compete with the best in the world in preparation for these pinnacle events, we must self-fund some of our competition and training costs.

I am so excited to be part of the Aussie Athlete Fund's Million Dollar Challenge powered by Ampol. This initiative pairs 100 Aussie athletes with businesses to raise $10,000 each to support our sporting dreams. I am thrilled to be paired with Sandstorm Beach Volleyball to help fundraise $10,000 to support my beach volleyball career. Matt and Jodi will also help mentor and support me, as they have done for the past 4 years I've been a part of the Sandstorm community.

I am keen to explore partnership opportunities with Australian businesses who want to support Australian athletes. Please feel free to get in contact with me via email at johnson.georgia@outlook.com.
