Hi, I’m Georgia Rogers! I am a 16-year-old clay target shooter in year 12 in the Scenic Rim.
Shooting was never really on the agenda as a sport I wanted to participate in back in 2021 as I had finished playing tennis at the time and wasn’t too sure what my next adventure was going to be. My Dad came to my door and said, “try and pick a sport for the Olympics.” That’s when he found a post on Facebook of a “come and try day” at Beaudesert Sporting Clays which now happens to be my home club for SCA (Sporting Clays Australia). Recently I have joined Toowoomba Clay Target Club and Fassifern Sporting Clays for my ACTA (Australian Clay Target Association) and SSAA (Sporting Shooters Association Australia) home clubs.
In my free time, I love to sing and play music as well as attend Muay Thai/kick boxing class twice a week after school. I will proudly be a member of the Ladies Australian Team to represent the country through the Australian Clay Target Association. I will be competing in Alberta Canada in the 8th ICTSF World English Sporting Championships in August 2025.
I have been shooting clay targets for approximately 3 years and have already made some notable achievements. I won my first state event in 2022 which was the State English Sporting Championships, along with multiple other competitions for different disciplines and Southeast Zone/State/National events. More recently, I qualified and made the Queensland State Team to compete at the SCA Nationals in Laang and Timboon in 2024. In early 2024, I competed at the ACTA SEZ Sporting Carnival at Warwick, and was the highest scorer in my division, I then competed at the State Sporting Carnival in Townsville where I was once again the highest scorer in my division, which took me to compete at the National Ground in Wagga Wagga for the National Championships. My win at nationals qualified me on the National Team to head to Canada.
I am raising money to assist me participating in Canada in August, to represent Australia on the Australian Team at the 8th ICTSF World English Sporting Championships. Fundraising will also provide me with covering the pre competition costs such as travel and equipment and also with accommodation and training in the months beforehand. My goal is $30,000 which will provide me with the opportunity to compete against some of the best shooters in the world. This is a huge opportunity for me to represent our country, and it will be my first time competing in a different country, and my first EVER world championship and National Team representation. However, this can only be made possible by the support of organisations and individuals such as you.
I am aware that times are difficult in the current economy but every little bit counts! With your help, little or small, I will be able to reach my goals and be able to have an easy and enjoyable trip but only thanks to your support. Also, the ASF provides a great easy fundraising campaign that is tax deductable.
Even $10 will make difference and in the words of Paul Kelly, “from little things, big things grow”.
