A message to the members, supporters and community of the Gisborne Golf Club.

By now many of you will have learned of the terrible fire that destroyed the Gisborne Golf Club buildings in the early hours of April 17.

We are devastated that this has happened. 

We know that Gisborne Golf Club is a place that is valued and loved by so many in Gisborne, surrounding towns and across Victoria. 

We know that so many of you have made wonderful memories here – playing a round of golf, enjoying a meal, spotting kangaroos and having a crack at winning trivia. We are proudly the home of the Gisborne RSL Sub-Branch. We have hosted hundreds of events throughout our history including weddings, funerals and other celebrations, community and sporting club events, charity and fundraising events and so much more. 

We love that the whole community is part of the place.

From the moment we learned the news of the fire, the staff and Committee have been working around the clock to get our club back on its feet. We are supporting our staff, cleaning up and making the site safe, and planning for what’s next. We welcomed players back onto the golf course a little over 24 hours after the fire. The Clubhouse is going to take a little longer.

We know that it is going to take funds and time to rebuild the club into a facility for the whole community. It’s a big project. 

We have started this fundraising page as a way of signalling our intention to rebuild and come back stronger and better than before. We want the whole community to be part of this process and we would be so grateful if you would consider making a contribution to support the club as we navigate a way forward.
