With our increasing numbers from the last three years adding to the high retention of our members it is important to continue to offer high quality service by providing our gymnasts with accredited coaches and adequate equipment. At the moment our gymnasts are being disadvantaged due to the age of the equipment and the clubs limited funds to purchase replacement equipment. At any one day we have approx. 225 gymnasts using the gym’s equipment and hence why over the years the Parallel Bars is now ready for replacement. The rusty legs, wobbly bendy railings and busted hinges are now beyond repair. This particular apparatus has served its purpose since purchasing the item back in 1991. The club has an annual equipment budget however as mentioned with our growth of numbers we have allocated funds in other areas which also demanded attention. This is a major concern for us as Parallel Bars is one of the 6 main apparatus for Men’s gymnastics. Our Senior MAG gymnasts train up to 22 hours per week, before and after school. If we cannot have adequate training using Parallel Bars it will result our gymnasts being non-competitive and will so result in not being able to host competitions in the region as we won’t have the mandatory equipment. To continue to host competitions in the region it is imperative that we replace these Parallel Bars or we risk losing our Gymnastics Queensland sanctioning approval which means travelling to Brisbane to attend competitions and qualify for State Championships.
