Gladstone Mudcrabs Development and Participation Fund

Gladstone Mudcrabs are seeking donations from current members, supporters, local businesses & community or simply anyone who would like to help make a difference at the Gladstone Mudcrabs.

All donations are tax deductible and we will accept all donations - great or small!

Areas of focus include:

• Facility use ($11,500 per year)

• Equipment upgrades

• Facility upgrades

• Coaching and Player development programs

• Help financially disadvantaged players cover  costs

• Reward volunteers

• Transport costs/busses for juniors

• Power costs (average $8,000 per year)

Even though we offer sponsors more in return than most clubs, being an Aussie Rules club in Central Queensland has its disadvantages competing against the likes of Rugby League, Rugby Union, Basketball and Soccer. Currently our largest Sponsor is just $2,500 per year. In our league we are the only club that is required to pay facility use fees of $11,500 and power costs of up to $8,000 per year (not to mention all the other running costs on top). This puts us at a great disadvantage compared to other clubs and puts unnecessary pressure on the club to find other ways to raise money to ensure our survival.

We have quite a few other obstacles as a club too, we share our facility with both Soccer and Cricket and unfortunately for us we seem to be affected the most. We have to train Monday and Wednesday nights, have limited storage for equipment and we can't host practice games due to cricket and have to have our goal posts down until 2 weeks before the season start. This has a huge impact on training numbers and our ability to train effectively.

In saying all this, we don't let our struggles bring us down. We pride ourselves on being one of the most affordable sports in town as we believe everyone should be able to live a healthy and active lifestyle and we have hosted an annual 'Charity Day' game for the last 8 seasons where we have raised money for Breast Cancer research, Prostate Cancer Research, the local Rural Fire Service and the Children and Maternity Ward just to name a few.

For us to continue as a club we need more help though. Retaining and attracting players, especially juniors is a current struggle from year to year. We have some great ideas we'd like to implement as a club but our current financial status does not allow us to implement them. Such as hiring small busses for our junior grades to get them to away games, rewarding our volunteers with small things like club polo's for their time, equipment upgrades to make us look and feel more professional and some upgrades to our clubrooms to host successful events after home games.

If you can make a difference and support a club that truly supports the community please donate now. We are always looking for Sponsors too, especially for our 'Charity Day', so if you can help in anyway please contact gladstonemudcrabs@outlook.com.au

You can now make a difference at the 'Muddies' by making a tax deductable donation to our club now!
