As you may have heard SCL our Pawnee tug suffered an engine failure (on the ground!) and consequently we are out of action and unable to continue gliding operations for the present.

The Committee has been meeting regularly, to progress the engine repair and financial management. The engine has been removed and sent to Victoria where it has been assessed. Repairs are underway and progressing satisfactorily, with an expected return to flying in early to mid November. The severity of the engine failure has us stunned, given the engine was only rebuilt a few years ago. And expensive. As you might imagine the last few years with the club moving site, developing the site and hangars, and now facing two engine rebuilds in short secession, it has left the club in a difficult financial situation. The loss of 6 months flying income, and fixed expenses have means we will run into a cash flow dilemma between November to March. We do not have sufficient funds to meet all our commitments (due to the engine rebuild) in the immediate future. The club has done well over the last 12 months and until this unforeseen setback we were operating responsibly and our operation was growing so we are confident that once we return to flying we will be able to meet our ongoing commitments.
