My name is Molly Smith. I am a vision-impaired 19 year old athlete and am currently studying a Bachelor of Education (Primary and Childcare) at the University of Newcastle. I have been playing Goalball for almost 10 years after first being introduced to the sport at a Braille camp when I was only 10 years old. It was there that I learnt just how much I was going to enjoy this sport and being part of such an amazing community.

Playing Goalball gives me a way to stay healthy and connected to friends who are going through similar life circumstances as me. It also gives me a chance to meet a wide range of people in Australia and internationally through the opportunities I have had to represent Australia in this sport.

I am so honoured to have the chance to represent Australia twice more this year which is very humbling.

·     Aussie Tinkerbelles - Australian Youth Girls Goalball team at the Youth World Championships from 11-19 July (Brazil).

·     Aussie Belles - Australian Women’s Goalball team at the IBSA World Games (Birmingham) from 14 to 28 August 2023.

As we are all aware, international travel is very expensive right now, and there is limited financial support available to help myself and my team mates get there. As a result, any assistance that can be provided through a tax deductible donation would be absolutely amazing.

I would use any money donated to directly assist with the airfares, accommodation and competition fees we need to pay as part of this experience.
