Sporting Chance is an initiative developed by Greater Shepparton City Council and delivered in partnership with FamilyCare and the local community and sport sector.
Playing sport and being physically active is one of the best ways to live a long and healthy life. Sport plays a vital role in building healthy communities, particularly in a regional area.
One of the biggest barriers to playing sport for some children, young people and adults is cost.
The Sporting Chance program has been established to ensure Greater Shepparton residents can actively participate in sport and recreation, regardless of their means, through access to small grants up to $150 per applicant.
Grants can be used to assist individuals with club registration and membership fees, uniforms, footwear, transport and equipment. For children and young people still at school this support is by way of direct financial support, however adults (18 years+) trade by way of volunteering arrangements to ensure both the sustainability of the program and to develop a sense of genuine value in the grant. It also means that the whole sporting community benefits from this program!
We need your help to provide as many grants as possible, so please support this program by making a tax deductible donation today!
