My name is Hamish, I am 14 years old and a Year 9 student at Whitebridge High. I have been a swimmer pretty much since I finished learn to swim and have participated in squad ever since. In the last few years I have increased the time I spend swim training because I really love it and enjoy racing. I represent Charlestown Swimming Club at swim meets but also Redhead Surf Lifesaving Club, I particularly enjoy open water swimming and I patrol Redhead beach during the summer months.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to race at the International Children's Games in South Korea. I am predominately a freestyle swimmer, so I am looking forward to swimming those events and I am really excited for the relays; we have a strong team and I train with some of the other boys.

It has been a very busy year competing for me. In March I traveled to Sydney for State Surf Lifesaving and then later that month to Perth for The Aussies- Surf Lifesaving, the conditions were not suited for us as it was very flat and we get quite a bit of wave at Redhead so the board paddles and swims were hard with no waves to catch! I also competed in May at CHS Swimming in Sydney, representing my school, where my relay team achieved 6th in State, I also did a PB for my 50 freestyle in that event which was a bonus.

I feel very lucky to have this opportunity to swim against some of the best youth swimmers from around the world, but also to get to meet so many kids my own age from other countries, it will be the experience of a lifetime! Thank you so much for any support you can give to get me there, Hamish :)
