UPDATE 06/06/2024 : DUE to Injury and longer than expected recovery time; unfortunately Hayden will be unable to compete at the 2024 Ultimate Ninja World Series Finals. 

Details below:

During the Easter Holidays, Hayden sustained a significant tear injury and underlying haematoma to his left shoulder (posterior deltoid) while wakeboarding. The resulting pain meant that he was unable to 'hang' from his left side or bear any weight above shoulder height until recently. Along with the muscular tear, MRI Scanning shows evidence of a temporary subluxation of the joint at the time of injury. With serious consideration, Specialist advice recommended a progressive return to high intensity training and a break from competition at this time.

Hayden is currently working with an exceptional Physiotherapist for his muscle recovery & shoulder-joint posture reset; and expectations are for a full-recovery with increased stabilisation. A very positive and encouraging outlook for his return to elite level training in the near future.

RE: THIS FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

As advised by ASF; we will be re-purposing this fundraising campaign such that any incoming funding will be allocated to Hayden's medical and rehabilitation costs. I will reach out to previous donors to share this update and discuss the use of their funds.

This has understandably been an extremely disappointing outcome for Hayden's 2024 campaign, but he has been able to increase his balance and stability core skills in the meantime and remains positive about returning to competition with enhanced ability in these areas!

Ranked as the current U15 Male Silver Medallist from the recent Australia Ninja Games, Hayden has again qualified to compete in 4 events at the 2024 Ultimate Ninja World Series Finals and Obstacle Sports Expo in the USA.

As a member of Team Australia, he will represent in the U15 M division at the UNAA Finals and FINA Round of Champions; and will also run the US Nationals 100m and a 3km Obstacle Course Race event at the expo.

He is very excited about competing internationally again and now has an increased awareness of what it takes to challenge the current world's best. This event will push him further as an athlete and provide a chance for him to make wider connections in this sport that he loves.

Currently in Australia, Ninja / Obstacle Course Racing is not an 'officially recognised sport' and therefore there is no access to allocated funding grants or financial aid for individual athletes like Hayden.

With your help however; Hayden can buy tickets for his flights to/from Brisbane – LA; pay for event registration fees; insurances; transport; uniforms and accommodation near the event site.

Any surplus funds received will be used to expand his Ninja Training Rig.
