I have been selected as one of two travelling emergency players for the Australian Indoor Hockey squad that will travel to the Indoor Hockey World Cup. The Indoor Hockey World Cup only comes around every 4 years. The Australian Indoor Hockey team will be competing in Pretoria, South Africa in February 2023, coming up against 11 of the best nations and players in the world. Prior to the World Cup commencing the team will be travelling to Austria to train and play warm up matches to prepare for the tournament.

Even though it’s a national team, Indoor Hockey is a self-funded sport and I’m required to fund this trip myself including travel, accommodation, uniforms and any other team costs. I have already paid to attend multiple training camps in different parts of Australia and as well as a trans Tasman selection trip to New Zealand, and have just returned from Brisbane were I played in the National Championships. Now I have to find upwards of another $7000 to fund the next part of my journey in Austria and South Africa.
