My name is Isobel Gray,

I am a track and field athlete from southern Tasmania who specifies in sprints and hurdles.

Many younger athletes including myself have big dreams. Being able to be given the opportunity to compete at these national competitions gives us an indicator on where we sit on the national stage.

There's so much to update...

At the All Schools Championships in Perth during December 2023 I competed in the 100m Hurdles, 200m sprint and 4 x 100m u18 Women's relay. I was ever so close in getting a place in the Final of the 200m, missing out by just .003s. I was still happy with my time so there was lots of positives to take from that race. The hurdles was also a good race with my best time so far for the season.

The 4x100m relay was something else! Our team of amazing young women came home with a Silver medal and broke the Tasmanian State Record in the process. This was the first time a Tasmanian team had placed second at these nationals and it was also my very first national Medal - so exciting!!! Izzy, Kayedel and Chelsea were the other runners in our team and were just incredible. I feel so lucky to be a part of such a wonderful team.

When we got back from Nationals in December, it was time for a very brief rest before the Gift season began. I ran in the Richmond Gift, Hobart Gift and the OVA Gift which was in late January. I was really happy with the races I put together over the season and came away with the win at the OVA Gift in late January!

After January it was back to our usual training schedule and with the next priority being the Tasmanian State Championships in March 2024.

After lots of hard work, hours of training, and so much time and dedication from my Coach Simon, I won the U18 women's 100m, 200m, 100m Hurdles and came 2nd in the u18 400m. These were my best results ever at a State Championships! It was a huge weekend but so rewarding and so much fun being with my friends.

What a season 2023/24!

It's now May and I've already started my 'off season' training regime for season 2024/25! I'm swimming regularly in addition to gym sessions but have not done too much running over the past month to give my legs a rest after such a demanding season...we restart training at the end of May, just in time for the really cold weather to set in here in Tassie.

Thankyou so much for all your continued support - I simply wouldn't get to the major competitions without it! And thank you so much for reading my story - I deeply appreciate your time.
