My name is James Hansen, I'm an elite middle-distance runner from Launceston Tasmania

Since my early days, I have had a dream of becoming an Olympian. In the next year, I am going to do everything I can to make this possibility a reality at the 2024 Paris Olympics, competing in either the 1500m or 5000m.

This dream has fuelled my determination to become the best athlete I can be. It has been a journey filled with challenges. I've faced numerous setbacks along the way, with the most significant setback being a life-threatening blood clot I suffered in my brain in 2021. I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason, I was fortunate enough to make a full recovery from this medical condition and return to full training.

This setback has intensified my desire to become the best athlete I can be. In the 2022-23 season, I achieved personal bests from the 1500m to the 10000m. Some of my highlights include breaking the Park Run Australia record and becoming the first Tasmanian to win the Launceston 10km, I finished 3rd at the 2023 Australian Championships over the 5km.

I have the determination and willpower to become an Olympian. However, limited funding opportunities make it very challenging for me to chase the dreams I've set out to achieve. The qualification process for the 2024 Olympics opens in July 2023.

I know that I can't embark on this journey alone, and I'm looking for sponsors who will join me on this path to give me the best opportunity to pursue my dream.

I want my dream to inspire others. I have never been the most talented athlete, and I haven't had a smooth journey. Coming from Launceston Tasmania. I grew up with a going to National Championships where we were expected to lose. I want to prove to young Tasmanian's that there are no limitations to what you can achieve from this island and there are even advantages to what we have here.

The funds raised will be solely used for expenses such as travel overseas for qualification/training camps and medical costs to maintain my body at the highest level.
