My Dream
Imagine a young boy in Darwin, Northern Territory, with a dream so big it seemed almost impossible. In my grade 6 year book most of my peers listed their dream jobs as; doctors, policeman, firemen and teachers, I was different. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life: become a professional squash player. Fast forward to today, that kid from Darwin has grown into the number one ranked squash player in Australia and is currently ranked 82nd in the world.
My journey hasn’t been easy. Growing up in Darwin, opportunities were scarce, and resources for aspiring athletes were limited. My childhood squash courts were knocked down, leaving our squash community without a home for nearly two years. Despite the challenges presented during my early squash days, my unwavering passion for the sport, determination and the support of my family and community, helped me to qualify for the Australian Junior National team to compete at the World Championships in Poland in 2016. Representing Australia on the biggest stage was an unforgettable experience igniting a desire to further pursue my professional career. My dedication to the sport and unwavering belief have brought me to the brink of realizing my next big dream: competing in the LA 2028 Olympics and bringing home a medal for Australia.
How you can support
To get there, I need your support. The road to the Olympics is paved with challenges, including the significant costs associated with training, travel, and competition. Every dollar raised will go directly towards helping me access world-class coaching, train at the highest level and participate in international tournaments crucial for my world ranking and Olympic qualification.
By contributing to this campaign, you’re not just supporting an athlete; you’re investing in a dream that started in the heart of a young boy from Darwin and has the potential to inspire a nation. My journey is a testament to what can be achieved with hard work, resilience, and the backing of a community that believes in me.
Million Dollar Challenge
Im not fundraising alone! Im thrilled to be part of the Aussie Athlete Fund's Million Dollar Challenge powered by Ampol. This initiative pairs 100 Aussie athletes with businesses to raise $10,000 each, aiming to collectively raise $1 Million to support our sporting dreams.
Competing internationally is incredibly challenging, both physically and financially. Many athletes rely on fundraising to represent Australia on the global stage. The $1 million Challenge, drive by 5-time Olympian Nat Cook OAM and powered by Ampol, is helping athletes around Australia overcome these hurdles.
Join me in making my Olympic dream a reality. Your generosity will make a tangible difference and help me reach new heights in my career. Together, we can achieve greatness and bring Olympic glory to Australia.
Thank you for your support,
Joseph White
