JOSH BELL - Road to Paris Olympics

JOSH BELL - Road to Paris Olympics

Now that we have finalised our Olympic Selection Series . I am pleased to say I have come out as the outright winner of our Olympic Selections, with Official announcements now released, our focus is now shifted to preparation towards Paris! We will now be required to be travelling for a combined 2 months away from home split across two trips, first being the final event before the Olympics held in Lonato, Italy where we will be training and competing, and second being the lead up to & the finally the Games themselves!

From what started out as wishful thinking and a childhood dream at the age of 12 when I shot my first clay target with my dad beside me has now developed in to a very, very close reality. After competing in the Tokyo Olympic selections in 2020 and narrowly missing out, I have gone back to the drawing board, taken my failures and used them as fuel 4 years later.

One thing that's definitely different from my experiences gained from the Tokyo selections is my priorities have changed and whilst shooting is a big part of my life.. my family is now number one for me. My wife Zuzana, my two daughter's Isla and Millie are my everything and whilst I have sacrificed a lot to get to where I am today within my sport, they have sacrificed just as much when it comes to time spent at shooting ranges, travelling domestically and overseas as well as not being home with them each day. That's the down side to high performance sport being you cant take your support system with you. I know they are always behind me wherever I go and to say I'm doing this for them as much as myself would be a huge understatement. I want to show my girls that if you put your mind to something, work hard and commit to something through all the sacrifice and failures - you cant achieve anything and everything you ever want to in this life.

I know deep down, I have what it takes to give Paris my everything but I cant do this all on my own, like many others, asking for assistance is not one of my strong suits and so this is why I've connected with the ASF in support of my campaign.

The next 3 months will involve a large portion of unpaid leave from my work, even after exhausting all annual leave accrued ill be looking at 8-9 weeks away unpaid, on top of that there is training and travel expenses which will also need to be ramped up closer to the Olympics. I don't believe that doing this for my family should come at the expense of my family and so while I'm away this support will also help to keep the lights on, mortgage paid and cupboards filled in todays climate.

Any support will be very much appreciated, all financial support is tax deductible to donors thanks to the ASF.
