As many of you know (or maybe don't) I have grown up my entire life playing the sport I love most, hockey. After having my 3 boys I made the decision a few years back to not only head back to local club hockey, but also to throw my hat into the ring and give competitive hockey another crack.

After heading away for my first Brisbane Masters team in 2022 and enjoying being back at it, I then took the next step to push myself to a national level, being fortunate enough to have made the Qld 35+ hockey team in 2022, and again in 2023.

I never imagined getting back to full competitive support after having kids and doing something for me again, and had the privilege of making the Aus 35+ Masters Trans Tasman team in 2023 where we headed to Christchurch to compete, with my next goal set on World Cup, Cape Town, South Africa in October 2024.

Following the nationals tournament over in Perth in September 2023, all my hard work finally paid off, and I was announced to be a part of the Australian 40+ World Cup Masters team. You could not wipe the smile from my face after reading my name on the team list, and I am so thrilled to be given this opportunity again to play with some of the best group of girls, against many countries (currently 10) in Cape Town this October.

A trip like this comes with not only a lot of organising of family and work commitments, however it also comes at quite a significant financial cost given the trip is self funded. I am reaching out to my nearest and dearest, who may like to contribute in helping me get to the World Cup tournament later in the year.

I honestly can't thank you all enough in advance for your generosity, and to my family and friends for supporting and helping me juggle all my commitments to date so that I could give this a red hot crack.

I promise to give it my all and hopefully return with a nice solid medal around my neck when I return Down Under (preference is gold I hear ;)).
