Hi my name is Lachie Weber and I am 19 years old.

I currently sail an ILCA 7 formerly known as a laser standard which is currently the Men's Single handed class in the Olympics. After Graduating year 12 last year my focus has been heavily on my sailing so that I can continue to chase the dream of qualifying for an Olympic Games.

At the Beginning of 2023 I stepped up from the ILCA 6 into the ILCA 7 and took on the big challenge of the Men's Olympic Class. Over the past year I have been training extensively and was lucky enough to be able to compete in Norway in the Under 21 European Championships where I placed 49th/150 in my first international event in the ILCA class. From then my focus switched to the Under 21 World championships held in Morocco with a fueled belief that I could perform even better. Placing 29th/120 putting me in the top 1/4 of the world in my age group gave me belief and motivation that I could compete with the best of the best.

My 2024 has started extremely well by becoming an Under 21 Australian National Champion as well as competing in my first Senior World Championships in Adelaide. The learning curve gained from competing in the Open Division Fleets is extremely steep so as to continue my learning and development in 2024 I am hoping to be able to compete in 3 events overseas. The Under 21 European Championships held in Pollença Spain in March, followed by the Princesa Sofia Trophy (World Sailing Cup; Palma, Spain). The Final overseas event on my calendar for 2024 is the Under 21 World Championships in Portugal in July.

As an elite athlete training almost full time and working wherever possible it is extremely hard to raise the funds required to cover these large entry and charter fees as well as travel, accomodation, food, equipment and coaching costs. Any donations to my campaign would be greatly appreciated and would strictly go towards these costs.
