Layne and Arnie 'The Schwarzenegger', his off the track thoroughbred ('Life's a Gamble'), have been selected by Equestrian NT to represent the Northern Territory at the 2022 Australian Interschool Championships.

Layne, who is 13 years old, attends Taminmin College as a leading learner in year 8. He has been riding for five years and is very dedicated to his dream of representing the Territory nationally and internationally in Equestrian Sports.

Layne and Arnie train four times a week at the Northern Territory Institute of Equestrian Sport with his Equestrian Australia coach, Nicole Mutimer. Layne's training involves general horsemanship, show jumping and dressage/flatwork, which he puts to good use on most weekends competing in equestrian sports.

Layne knows this trip will be expensive, it includes return horse transport for Arnie to Sydney from Darwin. So he has been actively fund raising since 2020 through Bunnings BBQ's, odd jobs and saving his pocket money.

Layne is now asking if people might be able to assist him in achieving his dreams by donating towards him representing the NT in this National Championship event.

The Championships are set to be hosted at Sydney International Equestrian Centre, New South Wales 25-29 September 2022. This event attracts more than 2,000 school-based competitors, family, friends and supporters from around the country. It is the largest equestrian grassroots program delivered nationally in Australia. Interschool comprises a competition and educational pathway for young athletes (aged between 5-18yrs) to participate in equestrian sport during their primary and secondary school years to develop equestrian skills, character, sportsmanship and teamwork.
