About the project

Maccabi Australia, together with our member States and affiliated Clubs, exist to promote Jewish identity and continuity- connecting our Jewish community through sport.

It is our repsonsibility to select and send Australian Teams to the Maccabiah Games every four years. This is achieved by the funding support of the athletes themselves, their families, our sponsors, our patrons, contributions made through the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF), fundraising at corporate events and the backing of the Jewish community who donate generously.

Maccabi Australia thanks all of our partners and supporters for their generous support of the Maccabiah athletes.

About the Maccabi Australia

Maccabi Australia together with our member States and affiliated Clubs exist to promote Jewish identity and continuity – connecting our Jewish community through sport. We are the largest Jewish grass-roots organisation in Australia, boasting an 85-year heritage, 35,000 supporters and 9,000 members ranging in age from 5 to 85 years across over 50 clubs. Every week these members compete under the Maccabi banner, in their state, for their club. These clubs and teams provide an opportunity for Jewish children to connect and form lifelong friendships. Our event calendar includes an annual Junior Sports Carnival, participation in the Maccabiah Games in Israel, interstate sport challenges and Maccabi international events. The three main purposes of the Maccabi Australia Sports Fund are to:
  • assist in the travel and management costs associated with national and international Maccabi Games. This includes those costs associated with selection trials, management training and the management infrastructure required to facilitate attendance at or management of a Games;
  • assist with the costs of the Maccabi Australia's leadership development projects; and
  • provide annual scholarship funds to emerging athletes, to assist in their quest to achieve at the highest level.
Please make a tax deductible donation today and help us continue to connect the Jewish community through sport. For more information please visit our website, Facebook page or follow us on Twitter.
