The World’s largest junior golf event, the US Kids Golf World Championships, North Carolina, USA (A Global Junior Golf organisation, where 1/3 of the PGA players on tour come through) converge onto the Home of American Golf “Pinehurst” - is played this coming August 2024. Over 2,000 of the best junior players, from more than 50 countries congregate to compete including one of Northern Beaches own, junior female golfer- Mackenzie.

2023 last year, Mackenzie qualified with an invitation to the US Kids World Championships, see (Netflix - The Short Game). But due to lack of funding, declined the invitation! This year in 2024 Mackenzie qualified again 3 months earlier than last year and now needs your help to get to Pinehurst. This is her last opportunity to compete in this championship tournament due to US Kids Golf’s age limit capped at 12 years of age.

Mackenzie’s journey into the world of golf began at age 4. She spent 6 months pestering her dad to take her to play Putt Putt (Mini Golf) until her dad finally caved in to Mackenzie’s persistence.

She finally got her hands on that golf club that would set her path for the years ahead. She played 18 holes and loved every bit of it so much, that she cried hysterically because she couldn’t play any further – the first signs of being in love with golf! Her desire to continually play more became apparent and soon progressed to taking golf lessons, which she continues to receive to this day….

Fast forward 5 years, age 9, Mackenzie got to experience for the first-time competition, by competing in her first ever golf tournament. The US Kids Golf Autumn Season Tour comprised of 6 rounds. Mackenzie only played in the last 3 rounds of the tour and managed to finish in 6th place. Not to say the least, her parents thought it was a decent achievement and to display so much passion for the game has not abated since her mini-Putt Putt days!

2020 and 2021 all golf competitions were cancelled due to COVID! Then, in 2022 Mackenzie commenced her golf competition journey with the Australian Age Division Golf (QLD) 9th place, the US Kids Golf Australian Masters, 7th place. By the end of the year at the age of 10, Mackenzie was already playing in adult men’s and women’s competitions!

2 short years later, now a prominent player on the US Kids junior circuit, Mackenzie, a 12-year-old, is accelerating her talent with an 8 handicap, a testament to her dedication and love for the game. Mackenzie has risen through the US Kids ranks to be the number 1 ranked female player by winning all 2023 – 2024 season tour events apart from the 2024 US Kids Masters, Hunter Valley where she finished in a 1st place playoff for 2nd. Mackenzie’s path continues to evolve with her aim to be one day (as she likes to tell us) play at Augusta with the best players on the LPGA elite tour.
