We can claim Club Championship, Regional, State, National and international champions. Our ultimate sporting achievement of Olympic Gold being realised for Fencer/ Pentathlete Chloe Esposito (Cooper) at last year’s Olympics in Rio. Also, followed by her brother Max Esposito placing 7th in the men’s Pentathlon who both train at Marconi Fencing Academy. Their coach & father Daniel Esposito has also been recognized as International coach of the year.
As a club, we try to provide the fencers with equipment, uniforms, fencing strips and the latest electronic scoring equipment so that they may be well prepared for competitions. In line with providing our athletes with the latest training, we are also hoping to provide junior development and Coaching development courses designed for our fencers to reach the next level in the sport by travelling overseas representing Australia. Each year a selection of our more talented fencers who are invited to a National Training Camp held at the Australian Institute of sport in Canberra to train with the Australian Fencing Team and National Coach, Antonio Signorello, a former Italian Olympic Coach, who has had an enormous influence since the inception of Fencing within our Club.
We are very proud of our achievements with the hard work and commitment that our fencers put in to strive to be the best. With this there are however many expenses connected with running the club and assisting our high ranked fencers giving support to have a chance to travel overseas and compete with the best from around the world. We rely for funding solely on our own fundraising events and the support of local businesses.
