Hi, I'm Mason West. I recently moved with my family from Bridgetown (country WA) to Perth after being selected into a Specialist Basketball Program at a High School in Perth to start Year 7 at the beginning of this year.

I found my love of basketball through the Bridgetown Basketball Association where I played in the local Bridgetown competition as well as Country Champs representing the Bridgetown Firetails. I was very lucky to have a great coach who introduced me to the world of WABL (West Australian Basketball League) where I played for the South West Slammers, U12 team for two years. During those two years, my family spent a lot of time and money driving me to training in Bunbury and games all over Perth. It was not financially viable for us to stay in Bridgetown if I was to continue to compete at that level, and I really wanted to continue, so I tried out for a high school in Perth that had a Specialist Basketball Program and thankfully got in!

Moving to Perth has extended my opportunities to play basketball at a level that I enjoy and thrive from. I play WABL now for the Willetton Tigers, and in August, I was selected to play in the School Sport WA U12 Boys State Team, representing WA which was a great honour and an awesome experience! The SSWA competition was held in Perth which was helpful financially because there was no cost involved for flights or accommodation.

I have recently been selected to play in another team, through Basketball WA, the U14 Boys Southern Cross Challenge Team, where I will represent WA again, but this time I need to travel to Victoria for the competition. It is being held from Friday 19 January 2024 to Monday 22 January 2024.

I am so excited and feel very honored to be selected for this team. I need to do some fundraising though, as the costs involved (such as flights, accommodation, food, uniform, registration fees etc) come to approx $2,500.00 which is more than what my family can afford right now, especially after the last two years and moving to Perth. I would be so thankful if you or your company could help me with these costs by way of donation/sponsorship.

By supporting me, you will be contributing to the development of a young athlete who is committed to achieving his absolute best both on and off the court. You will be providing me with an opportunity to use my skills, learn from top level coaches and athletes and step outside of my comfort zone by being able to play at a high level, in another State for the first time.

Thank you and I really appreciate you taking the time to read this.
