Melbourne Gun Club has been destroyed by the recent flooding events. Despite our best efforts to prevent this occurring our grounds and equipment have been destroyed and our club rooms have been extensively damaged. We are expecting the cost of the damage to be more than $350,000, although at present we will not understand the true extent of damage until it is safe to re-enter the club. Currently the only access onto the club is by boat. To make our situation worse our club is located on an inundation zone, meaning we are not covered by flood insurance as no one insurer will provide cover for flooding events.

We have over 600 members and hold many events, attracting people from across Australia and the world. In recent years we have made our club more inclusive to represent modern Australia. We listen to our members and visitors and aim for our club to reflect their voices. We strive to provide equity for everyone who uses our facility, we want people to enjoy their experience, but also feel safe. Social and emotional wellbeing is an important focus for our club, and we believe the support and connections made through the club provide people with benefits that extend beyond participating in physical activity. The recent grant we received, The Shooting Sports Facilities Program Grant allowed us to continue to support our members and attract more women, people with disabilities, and children to participate, improve their overall health and provide them with safer, improved facilities.

Our plan to protect the club from future flooding includes the design of a new Berm Wall which we expect to be implemented in 2023, but now the plan to rebuild our club needs your support. Any contribution is warmly welcomed.
