Through the Stronger Together program, MSS is organizing subsidized ‘come and try games’ for women from diverse backgrounds (international students, CALD, working professionals, refugees; aged 18 years+) of all soccer skill levels.

The objective is to reduce financial barriers for involvement, have improved physical and mental wellbeing, build meaningful connections, and enable an inclusive community.

By running ‘come and try days’, we target:

● Reducing financial barrier to the sport given the rising cost of living due to inflation

● The non-competitive, non-judgemental, welcoming environment created by the women organisers (who incidentally are from ethnically diverse backgrounds), will attract women of all ages 18+, LGBTIQ+, and all skill levels (from beginner to advanced)

● Running skills training before games will introduce newcomers and return players to the basics of the game rather than throwing them in the deep end

● Playing the game will reinforce what they learnt

● Healthy refreshments during and after the game will aid in reducing inflammation and keep them well-nourished

● A very important aspect of the program is what happens after the game, where the women stay back and build social connections and bonds.

This project will be led for women, by women. The women organizers themselves are migrants, endeavoring to create a welcoming space for new players.
