The creation of the new space will entail a move from the old Green Room housed in a dilapidated wooden structure on the ground’s eastern side that had served as the club’s social base for much of its existence but has long since passed its use-by date.
The new amenity significantly enhances club operations and improves hosting options for visiting teams and other stakeholders. On the ground floor at the rear of the stand it will provide a gym and fitness area of about 100sqm with access to existing showers and toilets when the gym is in use. The ground floor will also include dry and cool storage as well as lift-access area.
Five rows of seating at the rear of the middle bays in the stand will be demolished to provide a clubroom of 180sqm comprising bar, lift access and toilets. The room will have full-width sliding glass doors to afford sweeping views of the playing arena.
The improvements will be constructed under the existing grandstand roof which will be refurbished by local council.
Local government development consent has been secured, fellow sporting and community stakeholders engaged and a scope of works finalized. As principal user of the new facility, the club will supply the bulk of the required capital and assume the responsibility of lease-holder. The fulfillment of this goal will be the Foundation’s chief priority for the immediate future.
