Middle Harbour Yacht Club, based at The Spit on Sydney Harbour with a membership of 900+, is a community run club that supports many aspects of the sport of sailing. Alongside a full racing program the club has active cruising, youth and disabled sailing sections. It is also a base for the Australian Sailing Team and has produced many Olympic, World, National and State Champions. With its proximity to Sydney Harbour and the ocean beyond it is a popular choice to host state and national titles events and many charity regattas. 

All the above activities require the Club to have effective and reliable support vessels.  

Two vessels are needed.

A Tender is required that will be able to support the Club in the following ways:

• Ferrying crew to moored yachts.
• Laying marks to support racing, regattas and charity events.
• Youth Sailing activities.

The current aluminium tender is more than 45 years old and needs replacement. The planned boat is a 6m Polycraft Frontier 599 It is of polyethylene construction, designed for hard work, flexibility and stability. The approximate cost is $80k.

A new Race Committee vessel is also needed. 

The Race Committee vessel carries the Race Officials and assistants (up to 6 people) during racing, it is used to start and finish races, and lay buoys defining the race course. The boat is required to provide all-weather protection for the occupants. The current boat is timber and more than 50 years old. Replacement would be similar to the photo and about 36 feet in length. Cost of replacement is approximately $240k.
