About the project
The Murraylands Cycling Club (The Club) wants to establish a Mobile Cycling Clinic utilising the funds raised which will enable cycling education and safety programs to be taken to individual schools and community locations. We will take Cycling Safety and Life Skills to wherever needed. When possible, our programs will include road safety aspects from the Police Department.
The Club has a very strong focus and desire to assist the youngsters of families experiencing economic hardship. We have also had discussions with indigenous organisations and our Club is hopeful that some of our future champions will come from this. There are currently no Cycling programs in this area for the youth of our society.
This funding campaign will enable the Club to discuss the programs with the schools in the area and encourage their participation with a view to including it in their curriculums in the future. Our Club does not have the financial capacity this early in our establishment to instigate the desired activities, purchase the required equipment and cover the ongoing costs involved in running a free community program like this
Qualified Coaches and Instructors from South Australian Sport Institute, AusCycling SA are ready and willing to assist us with these programs with a view of course they may unearth some great talent as well as helping many youngsters enjoy the wonderful sport of cycling.
The interaction between the participants, the Murraylands Cycling Club, South Australian Sports Institute, AusCycling SA and the Police, through the children, will also create interest with parents, teachers and others which will enhance the Murraylands Cycling Clubs standing and credibility in the community. This is important for a fledgling Club.
We conservatively estimate that at least 200 youngsters annually will benefit from this project.
