My name is Nicholas Timmings, and I compete in the Winter Olympic sport of Skeleton.

Skeleton is an ice racing sport where the athlete sprints at the start, dives headfirst onto a small sled, and then navigates high-speed corners down an ice track, reaching speeds of up to 145 km/h, in pursuit of the fastest possible finish time.

I proudly represented Australia at the 2022 Winter Olympics, and my current goal is to qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy.

Due to the lack of Skeleton training and competition facilities in the Southern Hemisphere, I spend 5–6 months each year training and competing overseas, entirely at my own expense. With minimal government support, I’m now seeking assistance to help cover the significant costs of attending the competitions required to qualify for Milan 2026.

Despite years of international competition and Olympic representation, I receive only $1,200 in guaranteed funding from Australian sporting bodies. Even working two jobs, the rising cost of living means it’s becoming harder to save the $45,000 I need annually to compete at the world level.
