About the project

Formed in 1900, Northern Suburbs Rugby Football Club is one of Sydney’s most historic rugby clubs.

Our progressive activities around developing men’s, women's, 7s and junior rugby helped us to become a leading community group in Australia’s grass roots rugby landscape. Our teams compete in Sydney’s Shute Shield competition – the pinnacle of grass roots rugby in Sydney and the leading premier club competition in Australia.

Norths have a proud tradition of developing aspirational players to higher honours in the National Rugby Championship, Super Rugby and the Wallabies. In 2018 we had 210 registered players spanning 4 grade teams and 3 colts teams as well as a men’s and women's 7s teams.

In 2016, our 1st Grade side were Premiers. In 2018, 5 of our 7 men's teams made the finals with 1st Grade ending the year 3rd and our 3rd Grade team ending the year as champions.

We support our player’s passion for rugby whether it is for participational or aspirational purposes. Our home ground is North Sydney Oval and our clubhouse The Union Hotel, a combination that is unique in community rugby in Australia. In everything we do on and off the field we believe our purpose is: TO BETTER THE PLAYER, TO BETTER THE PERSON, TO BETTER THE COMMUNITY

The creation of the Northern Suburbs Rugby Foundation is aimed at supporting the development of our Club, its players and the local community.
