Outlaws Kelly Girls Worlds 2023

Outlaws Kelly Girls Worlds 2023

KELLY GIRLS HISTORY

We started Kelly Girls with a dream back in 2011, to develop one of the best all girl teams in the World. It’s taken many years, but Kelly Girls is now recognised as one of the best.

Over the years, the girls on the team have put in a huge amount of hours to get to, and keep this standard. We also have athletes come from around the country, move to melbourne to be on Kelly Girls.

Every 2 years Kelly Girls have headed to the World championships to compete against the best. It is quite an expensive trip that the girls have to fund on their own, so going every year is not feasible. Time after time, we slowly moved up the ranks placing 10th, then 9th, then 6th, then 6th, then 4th back in 2018.

Then in 2021 & 2022 after a lot of work, they finally became the top team in their division.

Here’s a little more about the team’s journey- where it began and where we are now;

OUR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DREAM

In 2020, with the strongest team we had ever had, the ladies had their trip ripped away from them 2 weeks before they left due to covid. It left many of them devastated and unsure if this team would ever be able to show the world what they were capable of they persevered, and trained for almost 12 months through zoom due to lockdowns, and then when the gym was allowed to open again at the end of 2020, they started working to get back the elite fitness and skill sets they’d lost so much of through covid.

Their hearts were set on a goal of trying to get back to in person worlds, and in September 2021, the ladies won the Virtual version of this competition (due to covid) which was an incredible feat. They became the first and still only Australian team to ever win at the world championships in their division.

Then this year (2022), we finally got the opportunity to go back in person, where the girls ended up in 1st place after Day 1 in one of the toughest divisions at the competition.

But unfortunately with a routine that was just not their best, landed in 5th place after a few routine mistakes.

This gave the girls a fuel like no other, and instead of a large number of the girls retiring like they intended, they committed to coming back another year despite the huge cost, to help contribute to the Kelly Girls legacy and make an even bigger mark in the world for their team, and for Australia in All Star Cheerleading.

WE WOULD LOVE SOME SUPPORT

This obviously comes at another huge cost to the girls, and we are looking for businesses that are willing to support the girls to help them represent our country and our gym.

Attending the World Cheerleading championship comes at an enormous cost that the girls have to pay for entirely on their own, in addition to their training costs. Now with inflation and the post covid travel prices, the girls have to put up over $7,500 per person just to be able to compete at this one competition.

With 23 athletes, plus understudies planning to go to the 2023 IASF World Championships, that is around $173,000 just to get a team there.

This is a huge expense for such young ladies; most of whom are studying full time.

We would love support from any businesses who are looking to support young, talented, hard working, incredible ladies. Anything that could be contributed would be greatly appreciated.
