Phoenix Sparke Milan Winter Olympics pathway

Phoenix is aiming for Milano 2026.

In order for this to be a possibility, Phoenix must earn quota points in IBU competitions beginning Dec 2024 as part of the Olympic qualifying period, in order to help Australia's international ranking in the sport of biathlon...

He plans to travel to Europe for intensive training and competition as soon as his HSC exams are over.

Phoenix will compete in IBU Junior Cups, IBU Cups, throughout the season, with the goal to culminate at the Youth World Championship event in March 2025, with a view to finish in the top 25 of the U19 field. A successful lead in could even see him achieve a better result!

Phoenix is a tenacious competitor and excels when the conditions are tough.

2024 will be Phoenix's fourth European season and he will work with established international coaches and a team of Australian athletes to elevate Biathlon Australia rankings.

Phoenix's highest achievement this year was 14th place in the Mixed Relay in Gangwon Youth Olympics (out of 30 teams). This was Australia's highest result in this event!.

In the men's individual 12.5km event he placed 39/100, and in the 7.5km sprint event Phoenix placed 33/100.
