Port Hacking Open Sailing Club (PHOSC) is a community based not for profit organisation, located on the shores of Yowie Bay in Sydney’s south. PHOSC has been an active part of the community since its inception in the mid 1940’s consisting of a broad and inclusive membership structure. PHOSC is run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers, and provides a significant contribution to the local community through the following activities:
  • Our focus is to promote sailing as a safe family based community activity
  • PHOSC runs a successful junior sailing programme and is an Australian Sailing Discover Sailing Centre.
  • PHOSC actively participates in the annual "Discover Sailing Day" (the community is invited to try sailing – this is coordinated by Australian Sailing)
  • PHOSC is the host club for various interclub competitions promoting community spirit and social interaction between clubs throughout NSW, this helps brings communities together and create friendships that last a life time
  • Club support of PHOSC Junior’s competing in State, National Titles and the annual Combined High Schools Regatta
  • PHOSC provides Port Hacking River front access to the community via PHOSC’s facilities
  • PHOSC is one of only two Sailing Clubs located on the Port Hacking River in the Sutherland Shire.

Our focus is on building social capital through engaging with the local community to develop and share an interest in sailing as a safe family activity.

The Club has set up this fundraising program to support junior sailing including the purchase of:
  • Optimist class junior sailing dinghies,
  • a new support and rescue RIB(boat), and
  • supporting training aids and activities.
The equipment will enable our successful junior sailing program to grow and introduce more children from the surrounding community to the sport of sailing. It will also help to build the skills and confidence of our juniors to a level where they are able to compete at state or national level.
