Funding donated to this initiative will contribute to infrastructure and facilities development and upgrade projects to make Queensland cricket clubs more welcoming for women and girls.
Queensland Cricket and Cricket Australia have identified suitability of change rooms and club rooms in particular as a deterrent to female players signing up to play cricket. Access more generally to cricket facilities and grounds for women and girls' cricket training and games is also an issue in many areas of Queensland, with many facilities reaching capacity, and significant ongoing participation growth.
Encouraging and welcoming more women and girls to play Australia's Favourite Sport will enhance cricket's culture, strengthen clubs and help to get more Queenslanders participating in healthy activity.
Queensland Cricket Foundation: Supports initiatives to grow the sport of cricket and its unique contribution to Queensland communities. Initiatives will develop cricket infrastructure and foster talent, participation, accessibility, and inclusiveness.
