Rail Trails Australia is a volunteer based, not-for-profit organisation which works for the development and promotion of a rail trail network Australia-wide.

Anyone interested in finding out about their local rail trail can access up-to-date information including maps, trail descriptions and reviews on our website, free of charge.

Our Australia-wide network of volunteer regional representatives ensure that this information is accurate and informative.

We continually promote the concept of rail trails as free, public resources that are open to all. Our aim is to increase the number and quality of rail trails so the community can use them for physical activity including bike riding, e-bike riding, hiking, walking, running and horse riding while protecting the heritage of the trails.

Rail trails are an excellent way to encourage people to get out and about and engage with their environment.

Rail Trails Australia receives no government funding and relies on membership, sales from products, advertising and donations from supporters to carry out our work.

We require funding to advocate for rail trail developments and to support our local councils, community and friends groups to develop and improve our wonderful rail trails and get more people using rail trails.

We are very grateful for the support we have received to date, but we need to achieve our funding target to complete all desired operational, marketing, promotion and increased functionality for the website.
