Arthurs Seat Mountain Bike Trails are used by hundreds of thousands of riders every year, with exponential growth every year... that sounds like a lot and it is. Don’t just take our word for it, here are some numbers from our trail counters: (Note: the last couple of years in the middle of a pandemic!)

  • 690% increase in riders since 2017
  • 58% increase in riders in 2019
  • 130% increase in riders in 2020
  • 120,000 ridden trails in 2020
  • 156,000 ridden trails in 2021

A large part of our trail network’s success, is that we have been able to grow with the rising number of riders.

We are excited to be getting ready to build new trails again! This has taken a lot of hard work over the last couple of years from the club’s volunteers, with support from Parks Victoria and Mornington Peninsula Shire Council.

As part of the Council Planning process, expenses paid for by the Club include the following:

  • Cultural Heritage Survey
  • Flora and Fauna Survey
  • Council Permits

The investment has paid off, because we now have all the approvals from Parks Victoria and we are shovel ready.

With the new trail we will be able to host National Events and International Qualifier events. The benefits to businesses in the area, and to our sport, will be felt long after the bunting is packed up after each race.

When not being used in races, Trail 28 will be available for all riders to ride, train, and enjoy. Local coaches will be able to train students, and local schools will be able to develop their Mountain Bike skills on a trail network recognised at the National Level

Construction can commence on Trail 28 once funding has been raised!

YOU CAN HELP

Red Hill Riders Mountain Bike Club, is powered by volunteers and support from the local community and businesses. We raise funds through club memberships, race event entries, merchandise sales, businesses in the Trail Adoption Program, and government grants.

The several Covid19 lockdowns and restrictions on local sporting activities saw a dramatic reduction in our fundraising activities. Whilst we were very fortunate to run our premier In Search of Stoke women’s only racing event in April 2020, we were forced to cancel our major Red Hill Gravity Enduro race event in both years. All this means less income for the Club in the last 2 years.

Due to the expense of obtaining Permits, Cultural Heritage Surveys, Flora and Fauna Serveys and Trail Design for the new Trail 28 ($19,899), we are reaching out to the mountain biking community to help us fund the construction cost for this trail.

How you can help:

  1. A donation of any size is appreciated! p.s. Our trail counters clocked over 150,000 runs in total across all the trails, in the year 2021 alone. A donation of 50c per run by every rider would fund the new trail in an instant!
  2. Join as a club member to stay informed and support further trail development.
  3. Be sure to support local businesses when you visit or ride the trails
