Earlier this year my school (Sacred Heart Primary School Mildura) nominated me to try out for the Victorian State football team. The first trial was held in Malvern East, Melbourne with a total of 170 Metro and Country girls trying to make the cut of 50. The footy was a really high standard and I think everyone there was surprised at how many young girls in Victoria could play such great footy. I was lucky enough to make it to the next stage in the process.

The second trial was held in Sandringham, Melbourne, this was the final tryout and everyone brought their A game. We were separated in to 2 teams and we all got to show the selectors what we could do as a forward, a back and a midfielder. After the long 6 hour drive home and the long loooong weekend waiting, the teams finally got announced via live stream. It was very nerve-wracking listening to all the names getting called out before mine, but when I finally heard Remi McClelland my heart skipped a beat I was so excited I didn't know how to react. The next few days felt a little crazy but in a good way, my friends, family and teachers were all so excited for me and the community were very supportive leaving lots of comments and likes on social media. I even managed to snag an interview with Sunraysia Daily. I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of my journey to State Football.

My selection will involve several trips to Melbourne for training and accommodation each time. I also have to buy a full Victorian team uniform including footy gear, tracksuit and a footy bag.

We will then have to go to Albury for a full week for the National Carnival. Everything adds up and my family and I would love some help.

Like my Pop says ' 2+2=4 ' everything adds up and any donation small or big would help us a lot. I look forward to keeping you up to date on my journey.
