Hi, I'm Rene Matihas, a 16-year-old climber from Melbourne, Australia. What began as a passion has grown into a full-time commitment to the sport I love.

I’m incredibly proud to share that I’ve been selected to represent Australia at the IFSC Youth World Championships in Helsinki, Finland — a dream opportunity to compete on the world stage against the best young climbers out there.

Last year, I finished 30th in the world — just a few places short of making semifinals. I was right there. That result lit a fire in me. I’ve worked harder than ever, and I truly believe this is my year to break through.

I’m not just going to participate — I’m going to give everything I’ve got to make semifinals and show the world what Australian climbers are capable of. I’ve poured my heart into training, and I’m climbing stronger, smarter, and with more determination than ever before.
