Visit websiteI am a Tasmanian kayaker, specializing in ocean and wildwater racing. Over the past few years I have been steadily improving my results.
Towards the end of 2023 Western Australia will be hosting the ICF World Ocean Racing Championship. I will be racing in the Open Male and the Mixed Doubles events while there. To aid my preparation I also plan to compete at the 20 Beaches Ocean Classic on Sydney's northern beaches and the Hobart-based Surf Safari again. Following the world Championships at the beginning of December I am also aiming to defend my national title at the Australian Wildwater Championship to be held in Victoria in January 2024.
Tasmanians are well known for punching above our weight in national and international competitions. This reputation could not have been possible without the support of local Tasmanian businesses and organisations.
In 2022 I achieved my strongest ever ocean racing results in the Australian Ocean Racing Series (AORS). I finished 11th over the line, and 6th in my category (open male) at the Queensland-based Hells Gate 38 race in June. This was the longest race in the AORS for 2022. I also finished 2nd overall in the Surf Safari in Hobart, then 28 over the line and 14th in my category at the AORS finale, the 20 Beaches Ocean Classic .
In 2023 I have continued to build on these results and I was recently crowned with the national title over the classic distance at the Australian Wildwater Kayaking Championship. I also recently won the Tasmanian State Ocean Racing Championship.
Outside of competition I work as a psychologist in schools and working with developing athletes to build their mental performance skills. I often build on my own experiences as an athlete racing at national and international level alongside evidence-based therapeutic interventions to develop programs and supports for athletes.
