About the project
The Club is replacing the existing pontoon and ramp which is desperately in need of repair and upgrading with a larger more stable design able to provide safer pick-up and drop-off and casual day-time facilities so that all members can use the pontoon safely.
The new design addresses the instability of the existing structure by:
- Positioning the pontoon in deeper water for reduced wave effects. The pontoon will be 5 metres further into the Bay from the existing pontoon.
- The new pontoon will be 12 metres long to enable it to “bridge” between wave crests and 5 metres wide to enhance the lateral stability.
- Lengthening the ramp to 16 metres to meet disability access requirements and provide safer access by all users. Approximately one quarter of the ramp length will overlap the existing jetty.
- Improved fendering to reduce damage to member’s boats.
