I have played hockey now since the age of 8 and I never expected or dreamt of the opportunity to play for my country in a World Cup. As most of you know, I play numerous sports and have pretty much trialled most sports throughout my life. Indoor hockey is a sport I am incredibly passionate about, and is definitely the sport I gain the most enjoyment out of. It is also a sport in which I have met some of my best friends and been lucky enough to have the experience of travelling the world, whilst getting to play the sport I love with amazing humans and athletes. As indoor hockey does not receive any funding, the opportunity to represent my country at a World Cup comes at a cost. During the tournament, I will not be able to work, which again places a financial burden on the hip pocket, whilst trying to fulfil an achievement I am proud of in the sporting world and attempt to continue to reach my goals in the adult world. Sport is one of the biggest areas of my life and for those who know me understand how incredibly hard I have worked to get to this level and earn this achievement. I was lucky enough to be a shadow at the last World Cup in Berlin, however, I am so excited to get to play against the best nations in the World. Having been quite successful in rugby league recently, I have experienced first hand the major discrepancy in funding between the two sports and it baffles me how individual athletes have to fund a trip to represent their country. I have left my run incredibly late, however, any donation big or small will be so appreciated and go a long way.
