My name is Scarlett, I am 17 years old and excitingly I have been selected to represent Regional Australia in the Regional Australia Team at the upcoming 2024 Oceania Athletics Championships in Fiji in June this year. I live in Regional Victoria on a dairy farm with my mum, dad and 3 sisters and am currently balancing year 12 with my athletic commitments and working on the farm.

I began athletics at 8 years old and have been a dedicated member of Little Athletics in both Cohuna and Echuca and currently compete for Eaglehawk Athletics our closest senior athletics club. I have proudly represented Victoria at national level since I was 13. Last December I represented Victoria at the Chemist Warehouse All Schools National Championships in Perth and placed 5th in the Under 17 400m National Final.

Being a regional athlete has its challenges at times, but I am proud to say my success as an athlete comes from local input from our surrounding regional towns. I train under the guidance of local coach Laurie Edmondstone who has been instrumental in my development as an athlete and a person. During the athletics season I travel a 3-hour return trip on Saturdays for local competition and then to Melbourne and interstate for the larger competitions. While my parents have been incredibly supportive, I understand the financial strain this journey can impose.

I am passionate about athletics and I am also an accredited Level 1 Youth and Kids Athletics Coach and contribute to coaching sessions whenever possible, nurturing and inspiring the next generation of athletes within our community.

Your support would enable me to focus on representing Regional Australia and showcasing what regional athletes have to offer on the international stage.
