Lillian Ross once said, 'Only those who dare to dream can make a dream come true.' These words resonate deeply with the remarkable journey of Sharon Jarvis, whose unwavering determination and courage have transformed her dreams into reality.

Despite facing unimaginable challenges, Sharon's relentless pursuit of excellence has propelled her to the pinnacle of Para-equestrian sport. Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the triumph of the human spirit.

As Sharon continues to inspire others with her extraordinary journey, let us all dare to dream and strive to make those dreams a reality.

Sharon hails from the serene Southwest town of Donnybrook, WA, riding horses since she was just three years old.

At seven, she was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma bone cancer and given just three months to live. Sharon defied the odds!

After representing Australia for the first time at the 2007 FEI World Para-equestrian Dressage Championships in the UK, Sharon made her Paralympic debut at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, where she achieved fourth place individually.

She then went onto the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, USA, where she won two bronze medals.

Next up representing Australia at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo in 2020 where she made history as the first Australian Para equestrian to compete in three Paralympic Games.

Sharon's dominance in the equestrian realm extends to her numerous titles as Australian Champion, a testament to her unparalleled skill and unwavering commitment to her sport. In 2023, she was honored as Equestrian WA's Rider of the Year, further highlighting her exceptional talent and dedication.

In addition to her remarkable achievements as an athlete, Sharon has also made significant contributions out of the arena. She served as the Australian National Para Riders Representative from 2015 to 2022, a position earned through peer recognition and reflective of her leadership qualities and esteemed reputation within the Para Sport community in Australia.

Fuelled by her passion for equine sports and a desire to foster the development of future generations, Sharon has dedicated herself to coaching and sharing her wealth of knowledge with emerging riders, both able and para. Her training and coaching business, situated on the family farm, serves as a nurturing ground for talent and a testament to her commitment to helping others.

Sharon stands as a shining example of perseverance, excellence, and generosity within the realm of Para Sport, leaving an enduring legacy that inspires all who encounter her remarkable journey. Sharon has selflessly allowed another Australian rider, Stella Barton to aim at competing her first Paralympic games while riding the horse Lord Larmarque who has been trained and competed by Sharon exclusively by Sharon for the last 10 yrs.

How you can help with Sharon’s next dream, Paris Paralympics 2024 -

The costs involved with games preparation including the loan of a horse, travel, competitions, training, accommodation etc are substantial. Your generous donations will ensure Sharon can focus on her training and preparation without financial burden.

Sharon has already remarkably qualified by FEI standards on the UK owned horse Furst Crusador, after just a handful of rides with him. Shroomy as he is known and Sharon have magically formed onto a beautiful combination with a connection that needs to be seen to be believed, something truly special and this could become the combination that medals at Paris. To do this Sharon needs to continue to train and compete in the UK to satisfy the Australian team selection policy.

The amazing success Sharon has had in the sporting field has not been achieved by herself. Sharon attributes her success in sport and having the ability to inspire people to the many people who have helped her along the way, as without the help of many none of it would have been possible.

Sharon needs your help now more than ever.
