Hello, my name is Sophie. I am 13 years old and I swim for the Novocastrian Swim Club in Lake Macquarie and I am also a member of Redhead Surf Lifesaving Club. Swimming and Surf Lifesaving has been a massive part of my life since I was able to swim. I have always loved the water.

I am so excited as I have been selected to compete in the Lake Macquarie swim team to represent Australia at the 2023 International Children’s Games (ICG) in Daegu, South Korea in July. The ICG are a recognised member of the International Olympic Committee and is the largest multi-sport youth games in the world. Update: I have successfully competed in South Korea, achieved 2 medals - One Silver and One bronze.

This year is a massive year for me. I qualified and competed at the 2023 Australian Age National Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast in April – the largest annual event on the Swimming Australia calendar! I swam in 6 events, made 5 finals (3 A Finals) and got 5 PBs!

I recently competed at the Coast and Valley Swimming Association Short Course Championships and broke 2 CVSA records. I am now the record holder for the following 3 events;

12 yrs 100m Backstroke (Long course) 2022

13 yrs 50m Backstroke (Short Course) 2023

13 yrs 100m Backstroke (Short Course) 2023

I competed at the Royal Life Saving NSW and NSW State Surf Lifesaving Age Championships in May. I was awarded 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal.

I have also competed at the Australian (Aussie's) National Pool Rescue Surf Lifesaving Championships in August. I swam in 3 events and got 3 National Silver medals.

I have also been selected to represent New South Wales All Schools at the School Sport Australia National Swimming Championships in August.

I have also been selected into a NSW Swimming Regional Performance Squad and invited to a regional development camp at the AIS in Canberra.

I love swimming because I love being a part of a team and racing with incredible athletes.

Swimming is a fantastic sport but it does come with a lot of expenses. I have started this page to help towards the costs of competing.

Thank you so much for supporting me.
