MY HISTORY

From a young age, I have participated in competitive sports. Whether it be swimming, basketball, netball, touch football or some other activity, I was always moving but especially being in the water, that is where I am the happiest!

I first tried Water Polo at the age of 9 and played for Gosford Water polo. By playing in a team, two years above my age group, my skills developed considerably, allowing me to trial for the Central Coast Representative team that same year and successfully be accepted. From that point on my love for Water polo grew as I climbed through representative teams, I then moved down to compete in the metro Sydney competition.

In 2019, I participated in my first National Championship as part of the Central Coast Representative Team. This was a huge opportunity for me. I was drafted to compete in Canberra for Canberra Water polo, and after competing for them was selected to join Balmain Water Polo.

Following on from this I moved down to compete in the metro Sydney competition. Playing for Balmain Water polo in 2020 I was selected in the NSW State Academy. I have been a valuable member of this squad since then and continue my journey with them currently.

In 2021 I was selected in the top State Team “The Blues” to compete at the National Championships where we came 3rd overall.

Just recently in September 2022 I competed again for “The Blues”, where we won the National Championships on the Gold Coast. I was the leading goal scorer for my team and in the top 4 leading goal scorer for the whole tournament.

From this tournament the Australian Cadets Squad was selected, and I was successful in being picked as one of 28 National players. This involves Aus Squad camps and we will compete Internationally in July 2023.

At just the young age of 15 I have been selected by the NSW Institute of Sport to compete in the U19 National Competition in Victoria this December 2022.

Getting to this point at such a young age takes dedication not only of myself but also a supportive family. I currently travel from the Central Coast to Sydney 7 days a week (1.5hrs each way) just so I can get to my various trainings and to play in my competition.

As you can imagine this take 100% commitment from myself and I have recently had to give up my casual job, which was helping me support myself.

As I continue my journey in Water polo I am trying to give back to the sport that has already provided me with so many opportunities and inspire younger women as they start their own journey. I currently volunteer as referee at Gosford Water polo and coach the U12’s Water polo team at Balmain.

Don't think you inherited the water polo genes from Darcy. He likes to hang on to the ball.
