South Melbourne District Sports Club

SMDSC Sports Development Fund

About

South Melbourne District Sports Club is the largest community sports club in Albert Park, providing opportunities to play footy, cricket and athletics for the City of Port Phillip and beyond, from Southbank to St Kilda.
We have more than a thousand registered members from kinder to seniors, along with their families. Our sporting sections include senior men’s, women’s, junior and Auskick Australian Rules football, junior cricket (boys and girls), Milo cricket, little athletics and senior athletics.

Our goal is to provide opportunities for all members of our community to play sport, and pursue health, personal development, and community engagement. In doing so we hope to nurture and enhance the development of sporting skills and to promote attitudes of good sportsmanship, temperament, and cooperation with others. Our Club is based on volunteers, and we encourage family involvement across all our activities.

SMDSC is committed to developing new opportunities for community members to play sport, with particular focus on female participation and on removing any hindrance caused by social or economic disadvantage.
In 2017 we are making big strides by fielding our first senior women’s AFL team, as well as a junior girls’ team. We seek to pursue further opportunities for diversification in participation, and in new sports.

This Development Fund was established to help raise funds for various SMDSC initiatives such as facility improvements and equipment purchases. There is no better way to contribute to the welfare of the whole local community than to donate to the South Melbourne District Sports Club Development Fund.
