The South Sudan Community Association of WA will invest in an extensive awareness campaign by facilitating family orientated multi-sporting activities that will encourage whole-of-family participation. The program will have a key focus on encouraging young people especially girls to actively participate in sporting activities. It is anticipated that involvement in the program will also educate parents and community members about the benefits of physical activity. This approach will facilitate a soft entry for girls to participate in sporting programs and activities.

The main objectives of this project

·       Increasing the level of engagement of South Sudanese girls to participate in sporting activities that are available in the local community.

·       Educate parents and community members about the benefits of sporting and physical activities for the whole family with emphasis on young girls. The program will also educate on the overall benefits of physical activity including mental health benefits, healthy self-esteem and confidence and for overall general health and wellbeing.

·       Encouraging the South Sudanese West Australians to increase levels of participation and engagement in outdoor activities run in their local community.

·       Use sport as a vehicle to increase level of participation and engagement between local governments, organisations and South Sudanese West Australians.
